Stadtplätze in Antwerpen
Niko Henke, Julian Brinkmann, 16.03.15

As a contribution to the module "Private and Public Space" it was our duty to speak about the different city squares in Antwerp. On the field trip to the Belgian port city we walked through the city centre and went in search of interesting places. It soon became clear that Antwerp offers a variety of city squares and these vary particularly due to the inner-city location. The function of the individual courses here was very different from the environment and also the condition and maintenance of places were widely depending on the area in which they found themselves. Locally we took photos and quoted us peculiarities and impressions of the environment. Back in Germany we began to analyze the places visited by us and made a scheme by which we developed an objective evaluation and a kind of ranking system. In this system we gave each place a mark between one and three. We graded according to criteria such as the definition of the traffic that access to the market of the topic or the planting, maintenance, the surrounding buildings, the program or the range of employment opportunities and the lighting. In addition we presented our own Unit subjective opinion at any place and finally presented the question whether such an objective scoring system can make sense at all. It seemed like you can do such a review just subjective.
