Sitzplätze sind eine Einladung der Stadt zu einem Ort für gemeinsame Nutzung. Sie sind tatsächlich ein Ziel außerhalb der privaten Räume und wesentlich ein Ort zur Sozialisation. Wenn die Leute zu diesem Ziel gehen, gehören sie somit zum Fliesen der Stadt. Man lässt sich in die Gesellschaft einordnen, wenn er hier sich mit jemanden trifft, sich mit einem Fremden unterhaltet oder einfach andere Aktivitäten beobachtet. Einige Sitzplätze können jedoch zu einer Anti-Sozialisation führen. Der Schlüsselpunkt liegt an ihrer gestalterischen Planung und ihre Verbindung mit dem öffentlichen Raum.






In der Artikel "Public benches and the quality of daily life von Alexandru Mexi und Ioana Tudora wurde eine Matrix zur Untersuchung und Bewertung von Bänken in öffentlichen Räume veröffentlicht. Dabei sind drei Hauptkategorien eingeschrieben, die jeweils drei Eigenschaften beinhalten.

Wenn man diese Tabelle in Bezug auf den Prozess der Sozialisation betrachtet, lassen sich noch drei weitere Gruppen erkennen, die andeuten, wozu jede Eigenschaft dient.

Daraus kann man feststellen, dass die Abmessungen einer Bank und ihre Nähe zu unterschiedliche Ereignisse hauptsächlich für die Ermöglichung der Sozialisation verantwortlich sind.
