Neues aus Riace
Katharina Senzel und Carina Klusmann, Mai 2014

Riace is a small fishhing village in the south of Italy. At one time there lived 3000 people. But thepopulation was soaring because of the rising unemployment. Exspecially young people moved away from Riace to the north to find a job. In 1998 came the transition: A ship with refugees arrived with 300 Kurds on board. The mayor of Riace dealt right and gave them asylum. Without having any documents the Kurds became citizen of the village and get jobs to earn own money. After this happening further refugees arrived because the theme became bettern known. Most of them learned a craft, their children go to school and they are all populary accepted.
