Haifa – The edge of the City
The basic guideline of the concept is the adaptation of the urban structure surrounding the working site. Regarding the fact, that the area does not seem to be an independent area within Haifa. Rather, it consists of two structurally neglected "components", which morphologically and typologically adapt to their respective context rather than to each other.
Thus, in the present project, care was taken to bring the surrounding structures back into the two districts in order to create a complement that fits into the urban context of both the
north-west "fraction" and the south-east "fraction".
In addition to the structural connection, the boulevard running from north-west to south-east also contributes to the connection of the two districts. In the entire development area, individual old buildings and also existing ensembles will be preserved and are partly subject to a new function in the design, such as the creation of community spaces. Nevertheless, the identity-forming function is the focus of the preserved old buildings.
