Anlässlich von zwei Jahrzehnten „Institut der Stadtbaukunst“ ist geplant, Mitte September 2026 eine Summer School in Berlin auszurichten. Thema wird die städtebauliche Urbanisierung einer Großsiedlung sein. Diese Aufgabe soll in Zusammenarbeit mit anderen Hochschulen durchgeführt werden.

Eine nachhaltige Stadtentwicklung kommt zukünftig nicht um die städtische Qualifizierung der suburbanen Folgen einer Funktionstrennung herum. In Form von Gewerbegebieten, nach sozialen Gruppen getrennten Siedlungsformen und kommerzialisierten Zentren, haben wir während einer Epoche nicht nur nach einem energetisch fragwürdigen System geplant, sondern auch den gesellschaftlichen Zusammenhalt gefährdet. – Hierin ist nicht allein eine Aufgabe der Stadt- und Regionalplanung zu sehen, sondern wesentlich die einer architektonischen Vorstellung von Stadtgestaltung.
Das Aufgabengebiet Großsiedlung sollte sich auf einen lokalen Bereich konzentrieren. Das Thema ist die Stadterneuerung und der behutsame Umgang mit dem Bestand.

Summer School Housing Estate – Announcement and Call for Participation
To mark two decades of the “Institut der Stadtbaukunst” (Institute of Civic Arts), a summer school is planned for mid-September 2026 in Berlin. The topic will be the urbanisation of a large housing estate. This task is to be carried out in collaboration with other universities.

In future, sustainable urban development will not be able to avoid addressing the urban consequences of zoning to suburban areas. In the form of industrial areas, settlement types separated according to social groups and commercialised centres, we have not only planned for an energetically questionable system during an entire era, but also endangered social cohesion. This should not be seen solely as a task for urban and regional planning, but also as an essential part of an architectural conception of urban design.
The task of housing estates should focus on a local area. The theme is urban renewal and the careful handling of existing buildings.

Université d'été Grand Ensemble – Annonce et appel à participation
À l'occasion des deux décennies d'existence de l'« Institut der Stadtbaukunst » (L'institut de la composition urbaine), il est prévu d'organiser une université d'été à Berlin à la mi-septembre 2026. Le thème sera l'urbanisation d'un grand ensemble. Cette tâche sera réalisée en collaboration avec d'autres universités.

À l'avenir, un développement urbain durable ne pourra pas faire l'impasse sur la qualification urbaine des conséquences suburbaines d'une séparation des fonctions. Sous la forme de zones industrielles, de formes d'habitat séparées selon les groupes sociaux et de centres commercialisés, nous avons non seulement planifié pendant une époque un système énergétique discutable, mais nous avons également mis en danger la cohésion sociale. Il ne s'agit pas seulement d'une tâche relevant de l'urbanisme et de l'aménagement du territoire, mais aussi, et surtout, d'une conception architecturale de conception urbaine.
Le domaine d'activité des grands ensembles devrait se concentrer sur un niveau local. Le thème est la rénovation urbaine et la gestion prudente du patrimoine existant.
